It was time to do some serious QA on our existing practice labs library in Discord. Special thanks to Intelbadger for testing and verifying many of the challenges.
We also received some more questions about the community-made challenges, some of which are now broken, and others were too unclear.
So…
I just went through all of the challenges, tested them, converted them to the Tiberian Order universe, and made new artwork. They’re now all available to play directly on the website!
Our new art style is very noir and horror-themed, with dark, grainy tones and broken VHS tape aesthetics. This fits perfectly with the new horror stories dropping soon.
As for official challenges that needed fixing, only “The Midnight Slayer” needed an update to the flag file.
To accommodate those who have issues with ZIP files and passwords, we’ve also included some additional instructions on each Contract page.
So what’s next?
More Contracts! And, of course, new monthly events. With the new art direction, we’ll be able to create some gruesome and truly awesome stories and challenges.
As for Discord and the community challenges, we’ll have to go over each of them and figure out what to do there. Maybe it’s a good idea to bring back the old “Community Challenges” section?
Let me know on Discord ๐
About the Art
So with the new art direction, I’m also cooking up some dope wallpapers and other digital goodies. They’ll follow the same style as the cover images. Something truly dark and gruesome for your desktop and mobile.
Also also… Me and Joey are cooking up something CyberSecurity related, but that will be a big surprise when it hits.
I hope you enjoy seeing Hacktoria going back to it’s roots!
Anyway, I’m tired AF from moving all this stuff. It took me the entire weekend, from Friday 5 p.m. to Sunday 1 a.m. I only slept 6 hours in between and got right back to it.
Hope you enjoy the art style and fixed challenges ๐
