Preserving our 24/7 Challenges

One of the most amazing things about you, as a Hacktoria community member, is the 24/7 OSINT Challenges in our Discord that you keep making. Over the past few years, it has become such an amazing source for everyone to learn from.

I've often had the idea of archiving these somehow. Automations would prove too difficult, especially to package everything for publishing somewhere. Another challenge was keeping spam bot content out of the posts... At some point we started logging them in a spreadsheet, but it was too much and never got around to publishing it anywhere.

Speaking of 24/7 Challenge automations btw.. big thanks to "deconsultant" for making a the scoreboard bot. It really freed up loads of my time in keeping the scores.

Fast forward to today, where we have a great publishing platform with Ghost, and I've found a compromise for the challenges to post.

See, the most valuable learning opportunities come when either the creator, or the solver, make a write-up of how the challenge can be solved. Without that, it's just another CTF.

So, my compromise is that once a week, on Monday, I archive all the 24/7 Challenges from Discord, that have a write-up. Any challenge solved during the previous week is considered, open challenges will be added to the next week. As there cannot be a write-up without a finished challenge.

I make sure to give full credit to the creator, solver, the write-up and anyone else who mentions something worthwhile. For example an important tool mention, alternative solve, or anything else worth mentioning.

NOTE: Newly added archived challenges do not show under "latest" on the homepage. I've excluded that tag, as it would drown out the CTF Events and Blogs.

Anyway, I'm cooking up a new CTF, will try to plan it around the existing ones, there seems to be a lot going on and I don't want to create overlap. Should have more info on this in the coming weeks.

For now, enjoy the archived challenges and of course play the fresh ones in Discord, to get up on the scoreboard and be part of our amazing community.
