25.08.2026 - Geoguessr Fun
This OSINT challenge was made by "ch1v4lry" in the Hacktoria Discord.
I was playing NMPZ on GeoGuessr, and I beat my opponent on this round! I got the right area, but no country streak.
It was less than a thousand feet over the border of the country I guessed in...
Flag: Google Maps Street View Link
Hint #1: If I looked a bit more carefully, I may have noticed a very helpful meta...
Hint #2: During the round, I thought it was Generation 2 Street view, but upon closer inspection, it looks like something else.
Hint #3: It's low-cam.
Hint #4: It's Switzerland. Hint #5: It's in a natural preserve.

Solve for the curious. I checked the google copyright watermark that said 2019, so knew I had to look for that watermark + old coverage. Sun was south-ish and road had to turn right so I could scan roads with turns that were in forrest and close to the Swiss border. Used measurement for distance checking, started in Google maps, but it's easier to keep track in map-making-app.

intended was: first, we can notice it's lowcam, so switzerland (eliminate sri lanka cause sri is too tropical; eliminate japan because the vegetation is not found there). based on chall desc., it's near a border of a country that chall author (me) guessed in. italy, lichtenstein and austria can be eliminated; all border regions are mostly narrow, steep valleys. germany border is generally too open and not forested enough, so unlikely to get confused with that location. france is the only one that's left, and then check forested roads very close to border. maybe that is a little too guessy, but france border still remains to be the most reasonable one to search i think
